Tony Laurent, our Founder, conducts the tea sessions. He has been in the tea industry for decades and is a bona fide tea master.
Until 2007 Tony worked as one of the senior tea buyer tasters for the global tea giant Unilever - owners of T2, Lipton, Bushells, PG Tips. Tony lived and worked in Asia, Africa, New York, London, Sydney and in his native Melbourne, all the while tasting, buying, blending, marketing and trading tea. And coffee too.
Not just a tea taster, Tony also worked for leading tea plantation companies for 7 years in various functions - overseeing manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing. So he has literally experienced tea from bush to cup.
After his Unilever tea days Tony worked in SE Asia for the world's leading herbal tea supplier and processor, Martin Bauer Gmbh of Germany; in the USA and UK for the world's biggest own label tea blender and packer, Harris Freeman Inc; and in Rwanda for Rwanda Mountain Tea Sarl - producer of the world's best CTC teas. Tony worked with many major brands: Lipton, Tetley, Twinings, Harrods, Whittards, Sainsburys, Trader Joes, Douwe Egberts and many more.
His tea experience is unparalleled in Australia. Having tasted close to a million tea samples, and having purchased, sold and blended over 1 billion kilos of tea.
Now you can share Tony’s tea passion.
